New

I love new (or new to me) things, so when my family sees me dragging in boxes or bags, they just politely agree while I excitedly explain all of the reasons we needed something new. They're very good-natured about it. However, several years ago, when Jeremy and I bought a new couch for our living room, my kids were distraught at the thought of getting rid of our old couch. Actual tears were shed because they had no idea what was coming, but they knew they loved what we had. However, the moment the new one came through the door, our kids raved about how much they loved the new couch.

It is difficult to deny that the last couple of years has left many feeling reflective and nostalgic. What we had was good, and so much has been lost. However, when the Holy Spirit whispered to me recently, "be prepared for the new," my heart got excited. I began thinking about all of the examples in the Bible where God replaces the old with the new; when Jesus returned to heaven, He sent us the Holy Spirit. The Law Moses received was perfect, but the new covenant through Jesus makes us perfect. I could go on and on, but the point is that I know whatever is to come will be all that we've desired and more. I truly believe Awakening is just around the corner, and I can't wait to see all that it holds!

"Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?"

Isaiah 43:19a, ESV
